Capstone Design: Electric Handlebar Control System for Wheelchair Mobility
This capstone design project focuses on the design and development of an assistive wheelchair control device using an electric handlebar system. The solution aims to enhance mobility, comfort, and independence for people with disabilities by providing a flexible and practical control mechanism. The system integrates an electric motor, throttle control, braking mechanism, control panel, and LCD display, which are mounted onto a wheelchair structure through adjustable clamps. The design emphasizes ease of installation, ergonomic operation, and adaptability to different wheelchair models. This project combines mechanical design, electrical components integration, and user-centered considerations to address real-world mobility challenges, demonstrating problem-solving skills and applied engineering principles.
